What is a domain name?

It is a website address. The domain name of the site you're on now is creativethink.co.uk!

What is hosting?

When you have a website it takes up space. Hosting is renting space.

I've found a package I would like. What do I do next?

Get in touch with us. Give us a call or drop us an email to arrange a meeting so we can discuss the functionality of your site, and get a look and feel for the job. We can maybe even register your domain name in the meeting!

How soon will my site be found in search engines?

This may take months, and even then, there's no guarantee that your site will be in the first 10 pages! However, we will submit it to the main search engines when the website is complete. It is a patience game with search engines, unless you are willing to pay them for your listing.

Our advice is to let people know about your site from other advertising mediums too. Include your domain name on letterheads, business cards, your existing advertising (i.e. Yellow Pages), vehicle graphics etc.

Can I see how many people are visiting my website?

Yes. Included in both of our website packages we send out a monthly email with a pdf file showing statistics of unique visits, page views, pages viewed per visit, top 10 popular pages and the top 10 referring domains.

I already have a domain name, can I use that?

Yes. But there may be a charge from the company you bought it from to transfer it to us.

Website design

I've got a logo. Can I use it on my website?

Yes. We'd prefer it if you have your logo in an image file such as gif, jpg or png, but if you haven't, we may still be able to work something out.

I haven't got a logo. Can you create one for me?

Yes. If you have a design already for us to work with, then great. If not, we can create one from scratch and we can finalise it together.

How long will it take to have my website up and running?

It takes around 24 hours for your domain to become "live" after we have registered the name.

We hope to complete a single page website design within 24 hours of receiving all information from you.

A multi-page website obviously takes longer and depends on how many pages you want on your site. However, for example, we hope to complete a 10 page website designed and fully functional within 7 days of receiving all information from you.

What happens if I need to update my website after a few months?

Normally, if it is just a small change such as a telephone number or address, we will do this for free. However, if there are to be regular changes to the site, i.e. dates or prices, we'll work out a managment fee with you depending on how often the changes are, and the extent of the changes.

It takes around 24 hours for your domain name to become "live" after we have registered it.

What is webmail?

Webmail lets you log-in to a website to collect and send email. It is similar to Hotmail or Yahoo but there's no advertising and you have a more personalised email!

Can I have multiple email addresses under the same domain?

Yes. When you purchase a domain name you can have as many aliases as you like. Perfect if you have an employee or family member who needs a separate email address.

How do I make payment to you?

Our preferred method of payment is by cheque, but if you have a PayPal account, or wish to pay by bank transfer, then we are happy to receive funds in this way.
